Nvidia released on 22th its new vdpau driver version 180.18, but not the corresponding mplayer-vdpau. One day later they also released a new mplayer-vdpau. The version 3263604. I’ve reported a more or less working TwinView for vdpau version 180.18 on a x86_64 Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex), but today the situation look a bit different:

Having a working VDR, which can handle HDTV (H.264) content, has a touch of academic nature nowadays. The stations, which offer their content via DVB-S2 standard are just a few and what they send doesn’t really attract people.

DivX 7 will be published, so DivX Inc. on January next year (2009). The company realized early, the time for HD content is coming, and they also tried early hard to place their, still on MPEG4/AVS based compression decoder as the decoder for HD content, such as 1920x1080p.
