This is small HOWTO about running the CoreAVC decoder (dshowserver) on a 64Bit Unbuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) This should work for other 64bit Linux-Distros, like Debian, Fedora, SuSE, Gentoo, etc… also. Alan fixed the Segmentation Fault issue for CoreAVC version 1.8.5.0, so Matroska files can be played back again. See this thread at his project site: #62 Unfortunately AVCHD has still issues. So CoreAVC version 1.8.5.0 still doesn’t work regarding playback of AVCHD footage from my Canon HF100. I think Panasonic HDC-SD1/5/9/100 is also affected. If [...]
